Ian Martin is a construction company specialising in Conservation and Heritage. We have undertaken a variety of specialist projects, which has provided us with the experience to work closely with professional institutes such as English Heritage, working on sensitive heritage and conservation projects.
Our reputation has been built up over the years on a personal approach with close attention to detail. It is our belief that a successful project involves the co-operation of the entire construction team and consequently we prioritise in providing a team who will work closely alongside the design team; an essential element in seeing a successful conclusion to any project.
Buxton Opera House
We are proud of our reputation in these areas and the restoration of Buxton Opera House has been one of the most rewarding projects, involving the co-ordination of many skills and trades as well as an empathy with the ideals which make the building a unique treasure.
St. Michael & All Angels Church
The refurbishment and redesign of St Michael & All Angels Church, Macclesfield has been equally rewarding. This involved major structural work as well as constructing a convention centre within the mass of unused space available in many such buildings. The result is stunning – providing the much needed facilities for the community and cleverly blending a modern design with the ancient beauty of the building.
Victoria Baths
We are happy to be involved with Victoria Baths in Manchester, the winner of the BBC Restoration Programme. We were contracted to carry out the remedial works to stabilise the building and to prevent water ingress and timber decay whilst the project was waiting for further funding to be obtained. The careful approach to the works allowed us to work intimately with the design team, maintaining the heritage and integrity of the building as well as preventing any further decay. |
